Great property! Our sight was level, spacious and had partial shade. The bathrooms were very clean and the laundry facilities were reasonably priced and also well maintained. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. It was easily accessible to Historic Route 66/Interstate 40. We would definitely stay here again when in the Amarillo area.

This park is very close to some train tracks and every hour or so you don't just get the trains rumble by but you get their loud horns when they cross an intersection. This went on all night.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Those trains that everyone complains about are doubling up so that products stuck on barges can be delivered and people dont complain about empty shelves.

We stayed one night. We arrived late after a full days driving. We found our site assignment in the night check in box and were so happy when we got to our site and found it was a spacious site with a nice view. The lark was very clean and quiet. We won’t hesitate to stay there again and for our stay is much longer next time. AAA+++

Overall, it was great. The noise from and the view of the airport from our site was the only negative. A row of trees or even a privacy fence between our site and the airport would make a huge difference.

Everyone was so helpful and fri. Gave us info and directions on the sights to see. Would definitely stay there again.

We enjoyed our stay at the Amarillo KOA. Our site was clean and plenty long enough for our rv and the vehicle we tow. We have two small dogs and it was easy to walk them and also let them off leash in the dog park. I especially appreciated the shade area in the dog park.

We were only there for an overnight stay but would stay there any time we come through. The campground is immaculate. There is a pool, a playground, laundry, showers and store. Everything a camper would need. The staff is super friendly and helpful. I can't think of a better place to stay in Amarillo.

Guest left early because he didnt want to follow the rules. Our insurance provider does not allow personal golf carts on property and he got mad because we reminded him NICELY. No one was rude to him.

Only stayed overnight, on 2 separate nights, and the campground was clean, facilities were also clean, WiFi is available if needed, and the store has some essentials if needed. Just keep in mind that if the AWACS airplanes are taking off from the airport, it can get loud there.

The staff were friendly, the facilities were well kept and exceptionally clean.. The bathrooms were well appointed with an appropriate western theme and the showers wonderful!!!

2nd time staying. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Place has gravel roads and mostly back ins, near and airport, train station and highway, hence the 4 star rating for location issues.

Very disappointed and upset. We paid for a full hookup site and were unable to use the sewer connection due to a clogged sewer that could not be fixed even though we paid to stay for 2 additional hours ($10). Had to use the dump station which was unpleasant and time consuming. No staff tried to make things right or offer us compensation.

Lot's of rules re: Internet. Many of the KOA's have improved internet. Might be time to address that. WiFi has reached the necessity of Electric and water. Not great TV reception. Again, compared to other KOA's.

Staff friendliness was only thing that saved this KOA from a lower rating. I understand Amarillo is a dry area but the lack of any grassy areas (unless you call the scrub grass) gave this KOA look sad and under kept.

Guest was here at the end of September (Fall). The grass was beautiful until fall. Can't adjust the seasons.

Trains, planes and the smell of cows/sewer. Facilities are ok but the location is awful.

We are near a meat packing plant and very rural. Maybe guest should have done their homework. We cannot move the airport OR campground. Also, guest stayed not once, but twice.

The train and it's whistle woke me up ever couple of hours and the showers have no place to set your stuff and no shower door or curtain to keep ever thing from getting wet.

The campground is fine for a one-nighter, but the train noise was unbearable!!!

The campground was nice but the area of town was very run down. Probably would not stay here again.

We are not able to move the campground OR the neighborhood. Did the neighborhood affect your stay? I doubt it. How about grading the things we have control over??

Very clean and spacious, you do have train whistles because there is a crossing less than a quarter mile away. You also are next to the international airport so if you don’t want a little noise don’t camp here. Didn’t bother us.

Clean bathrooms, neat property- fairly quiet, the AWACS take off and landings stopped at darkness and didn’t resume until dawn

We only stayed one night, but the campground is very well maintained, the bathrooms were VERY clean, and well maintained. Has a nice playground, and there is plenty of room in the campsites. The roads are dirt, and I could see it being dusty on a windy day, but in this part of Texas, dust is just part of the deal, so I'm not faulting the KOA for that. We stay in a lot of KOA's and for a Journey, this one is definitely worth returning to.
