RV Reviews

If your looking for a place to get off the road this is it. Nothing fancy but well maintained. My only complaint is someone didn’t clean up after their dogs in the bark park. You can tell this isn’t checked regularly because it was left there a while.

Quite satisfactory for our needs. A bit surprised by the very loud train that passed by around midnight shaking our Airstream motor coach causing us concern. Otherwise all good with showers, convenient dump station and very secure spot for the evening.

The hookup locations on the sites required us to move our trailer to dump on our own site. The sites were all just barely marked out on a big dirt lot.

We have stayed there twice and have been pleased both times

Very clean, very friendly staff.

enjoyed stay, people were very helpful. Good gift store, loved the iron cutouts..
Dec 12, 2021
It's pretty much just a dirt field in the middle of an industrial area,. Nothing like all other KOA's.. and the 65 mile an hour winds/dirt storm didn't help.. we thought the trailer was gonna flip over! We left early the next morning as fast as we could get outta there! Definitely not a place I would recommend..

Good cg, bathrooms were nice and clean. No one in office after 6pm.

It was a bit hard to find and farther away from interstate no kOA signs giving you a heads up ahead of time until your there so we missed the turn had to turn around on a busy 4 lane it looked like a slummy area but clean campground and staff very friendly .

The location is well centered to hit all of the main stores (grocery, gas, etc) in Amarillo. The sites are well kept and the staff is VERY friendly. I saw some reviews about the staff being strict and unfriendly, which was the complete opposite of our experience. As a matter of fact, one of the members gave us some good advice on keeping our water filter from freezing. Loved the Prairie Dogs!

We just pulled in, spent the night and pulled out again. The registration was out at the office door, so we didn't even have to talk to anyone.

Too many trains. Very noise, will find another place if I ever go to Amarillo again.
Dec 06, 2021
Definitely not worth $60. No one guided us where our spot was. No grass....all dirt or gravel. No trees. We could have parked in a pasture for alot less money & same conditions.

Staff is great. Store stocked with items we needed. The issue is the noise… airport, trucks, and trains (all night long). Could not sleep.
Dec 05, 2021
Very bare. No trees, very tiny dog park. Clean.

Just stopped for the night most of the park was empty but we were put in the back in a muddy spot. Water hookups leaked bad. On the plus the people where very nice and the store/office was large and very nice the bathrooms were top notch! Warm and clean! I could imagine in spring it would make a great stop.

The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bathroom was nice and clean. The sites were pretty bare bones as far as any trees or grass. It’s not an attractive campground.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you so much. Glad you enjoyed.

Very nice park, clean and neat. I would have bought propane, but I was told that they didn't have clearance to pump propane into a motor home. Hope they're working on that.

CAMPGROUND RESPONSE / COMMENTS:

Thank you for staying and yes we're working on it. Texas Railroad Commission is VERY tough. They commission the tests.

All good the night we stayed. Quick stop; did not have spare time on this trip. Third or fourth time we stayed at Amarillo KOA. We will likely pull in on future trips. Thanks.

We arrived late and left at 9:00. We never saw any workers. Store didn’t open until 10. Everything went fine. Some might be bothered by airport and trains nearby. Didn’t bother us.

We only stayed one night, but the campground is very well maintained, the bathrooms were VERY clean, and well maintained. Has a nice playground, and there is plenty of room in the campsites. The roads are dirt, and I could see it being dusty on a windy day, but in this part of Texas, dust is just part of the deal, so I'm not faulting the KOA for that. We stay in a lot of KOA's and for a Journey, this one is definitely worth returning to.
