Campground Reviews

The office is only open sporadically and the phone is not monitored. You have to call the holiday inn next door and they are helpful but cannot answer questions about the sites in the campground. The times there will be someone in the office should be posted and time to call to talk to someone in the campground should be on the phone recording. Very frustrating.

Excellent campground right in town. The Wright Park and the Wright zoo are within walking distance along with the Boothill Museum and Distillery. Our site was flat and clean FHU!! Laundry and restrooms were spotless. The only thing I would recommend is better signage entering the park. We ended up at a dead end which is a big no no when towing!!

Very nice, very clean, very quite. No complaints!

I made the reservation on line which is typically very reliable. Apparently the owner of this KOA does not follow nationwide standards because the computer put my 32’ Airstream trailer in a 35’ spot. In short I would of had to disconnect and park my F250 in the street. So instead of getting a concrete pad, I ended up with gravel and grass. The manager was helpful in getting me this spot.

Very clean, spacious sites and queit. Close to town and activities if you want to partake.

Stayed for one night because it was raining and 38 degrees with a 40 mph wind so no night driving. Campsite was ok but got a gravel site. No trees to block wind or find shade if it were summer.

This review has been removed by KOA due to profanity.

It was a great park.

Very nice and well kept campground

The campground itself is great. Love the concrete pads, trees, grass, clean, new, very nice. BUT we didn't like the shared access with the City park. So many non-campers used the dog park and pavilion on KOA property. Also, 4-wheelers kept coming down our street and then running up the little hill at the south end of the KOA park to get to the track. Sounded like Nascar track in the Big Ditch.

Small, but cute campground. It is a long walk to Dodge City. We ordered Italian food from a local restaurant. Very friendly and great for a quick stay.

Fantastic KOA!
Sep 09, 2020
Too open with no shade or trees. Neighbors too close. Unsupervised. Locals riding through the streets too fast on their 4 wheelers at night. Felt unsafe.

Checked in late and our site reservation was waiting on the after hours board. Site was easy to find and clean. Had all the hookups we could have wanted including cable.

Short but nice.

Overall It was a nice clean park. I enjoyed my stay. Unfortunately some long term users didn’t keep their pets on a leash and they did their thing in other yards. All in all I enjoyed my stay and would stay there again.

very windy, no amenities except a laundry. Nice city dog park connects to the KOA, so does the city park where kids were doing donuts in their cars till after 11 PM. Not secure from the park and zoo, people just walk on through. No employees on duty when we arrived at 3 PM and none there when we left at 8:30 AM.
Sep 08, 2020
No person in the office the entire 3 days we were there, only one the was the ground keeper. All the trees were infested with large bees, the water in showers was cold.
Sep 08, 2020
No toilet paper and dirty mens bathroom at the stand alone bathroom. Grill is almost buried in the ground. Bench warped so you cant sit on it. Office closed so no one to contact. Would never stay there again.

Clean Level good location Could use more washers and dryers

What a pleasant surprise; 100' paved full hook up spaces, placed so you are not on top of your neighbors. Laundry room looked clean, bath was. Grass throughout the park, with an attached fenced dog park.

Dodge City KOA was the perfect place to stay to enjoy the sights of the city. The campground was impeccable, with large sites, lovely laundry, friendly personnel and nice view of the grain elevators! You really felt like you were in the plains.

Great location. Easy walk to restaurants and museum. Nice to have a huge dog park and dog run available. Things very clean!

The service was awesome and the young man, who checked us in, was kind enough to offer information on local businesses that could help us with our tire situation on our friend's motorhome. We will definitely be returning to your KOA. THANK YOU!

Need a maintenance schedule. Grass needed mowing and trimming. Bathrooms unattended, needing supplies and cleaning. No escort to site, and trash on site grounds

We arrived and someone was in our site, I called after hours number which went to holiday inn and was told to just park anywhere. That was assigned to someone else and they weren’t happy! The shower drains slopped wrong so standing in puddles to dress. I wasn’t able to get vkr discount as had to pay balance to person at holiday inn. I left office message in regards, no call back. Clean park

I took a four day weekend from work and decided to try out the new KOA in Dodge City. I really like that the campground was not by a major highway and you do not hear the road noise. I was happy that the campground was by a water park because it got hot a few days. Everything is within walking distance to museums and restaurants. I never got to see the owners but got to know the groundskeeper.

Sites and hookups were fine. Management or a lack there of is sorely lacking. After 11 phone calls and 1 email, I finally spoke to the front desk at the Holiday Inn. They knew nothing and transferred me to the GM’s voicemail. People had no idea what site to be in upon arrival. It was a mess. Pandemic or not, this is unacceptable. If management gets straight this could be a nice little park.

We only stayed overnight traveling. Nice level concrete pads.

Nice park. Nice location. We would recommend to others. During our Saturday night stay, management did not appear to be on property. We did not have any issues requiring management though.

I know it's new and they are looking for suggestions. Only one I have is that the store should be open more. Couldn't get ice or mail letters. Stayed 2 nights and the only time it was open was when we checked in.
Aug 30, 2020
The office/store posted when someone would be there and they were not- very unreliable.

Great staff. Excellent sites. Super clean restrooms and showers. Great place to stay.

We have stayed several times here at Dodge City KOA....we have always had luck with the staff being on duty in the office. They have been very friendly and helpful. We use the showers and rest rooms and find them clean and usable. Love the campground being so close to downtown sites and restaurants. Very easy walk. We will ALWAYS stay here on our adventures.

Our stay was great. Very nice level campsite with great hook-up. Very courteous staff member at the front check-in. Close to walk to the historic district and the park. Very nice area. Recommend it highly.

The campground is beautiful. When we arrived at 4 pm the office was locked with a note on the door. It said they would be back at 4 pm and if you have a reservation call 6202251000. I called the koa number and this number several times. No answer, I left messages. At 4:20 pm we gave up and found a spot. At 4:45 I talked to Irwin in the office. Gave him my res. # and space.

Centrally located. Small. Easy in and out in our 45 ft. Coach w/tow.

FANTASTIC!!! Nice clean sites and close to everything in Dodge City. The water park and the zoo are right next door. Stayed here 4 nights and we WILL be back!!

From the greeting by Erwin at the front desk until I drove off the property, this was a great overnight stay! Such friendly service, a beautiful place, super clean (bathrooms and camping space), and totally safe. Thanks for a great first KOA experience! Wish I could’ve stayed in the area longer.

We enjoyed our stay. Staff was very friendly. We were traveling in a self contained trailer so did not use shower facilities. Dog run was very nice and big.
Aug 25, 2020
Friendly host. Beautiful tent sites but no shade and it was 98 degrees - obviously no ones fault, but host let me pick from any available site, which was very nice. Restrooms needed cleaning.
Aug 24, 2020
Great. Needed a different picnic table though.

The camp is nice and I realize it’s new. There was no shade would be my only complaint.

We didn't have reservations and wanted a safe place to stay. The KOA camp was perfect. It's clean, children and pet friendly. The rv sites are a good size, especially the pull throughs. The restrooms are clean and the showers have hot water and good size. They are located closed to several attractions, especially a waterpark and a free zoo. I would highly recommend it whether you have a reservation or not.

We tent camped. They have grassy areas for tents with tables and water. The shower houses are brand new and some of the nicest I've ever seen. it takes a little bit to get hot water but be patient. They also have a great laundry room. two things that you'll want to know if your tank camping is at that area is Will lit so it might make it a little difficult to sleep due to all the light and also because it's new and in Western Kansas there aren't many trees for shade or hammocks. the place is new and in the great location and very well lived in very safe and the people are friendly who run it. I would not hesitate to go back.
