Winter Monthly RV Stays Available
Mitchell KOA Journey offers a limited number of winter-ready, full-hookup KOA Patio® RV sites for approved monthly stays. Nightly and short-term camping will be closed beginning November 1, 2026, but monthly RV accommodations remain available by advance arrangement, subject to approval and availability. We anticipate reopening for overnight camping in March 2027, weather permitting.
Our winter KOA Patio® sites feature concrete patios, 50/30/20-amp electrical service, heated water hydrants, and sewer connections. Electricity is included in the monthly rate at no additional charge. Patio furniture is removed during the winter season.
Winter guests must have fully self-contained RVs and be prepared for South Dakota winter conditions, including protecting their RVs, water hoses, and sewer connections from freezing. The campground office, store, restrooms, showers, laundry, and recreational amenities are closed during winter.

Our extended-stay sites are well suited for traveling nurses and other healthcare professionals, consultants, inspectors, engineers, educators, remote workers, and others completing temporary assignments.
Located just off I-90, three miles east of Mitchell, our campground provides convenient access to local employers, Avera Queen of Peace Hospital, grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, and everyday necessities.
During the regular camping season, monthly accommodations may also be available on designated spacious, full-hookup Pull-Thru RV sites.
A Quiet, Well-Maintained Environment
Our extended-stay program is intended for individual guests and couples, not group or crew housing. We maintain well-kept sites, campground standards, and security cameras throughout the property. Quiet hours are from 10 p.m. to 8 a.m.
Commercial equipment, utility trailers, materials, and outdoor storage are not permitted at extended-stay sites. All RVs, vehicles, occupants, and pets must meet campground requirements.
