I was disappointed in the Halloween holiday. The new managers got rid of the pet costume contest, the kids contests, and the group contest. It used to be so fun seeing everyone (and the dogs) dressed up trick or treating in their costumes. They also changed the site decorating contest to be voted on by guests, which is just a popularity contest. Staff should vote. My kids were bummed this year!

We were told to put trash out in bags during the weekend and workers would be by to pick it up. No one came by. I brought extra garbage bags but ran out before leaving on Sunday. Also outside the cabin loading with key left in the cabin door when front office called to ask where the key was. I said I would walk it down. When I checked out nothing was said but then I was charged $30 late fee.

Patty was very helpful multiple times throughout the trip. We have been doing Halloween camping at KOA Santa Cruz for 20 years. We appreciate the efforts to keep it kid friendly while letting adults have responsible fun. Thank you for stopping people from getting too rowdy very late at night. Changes to the reservations for next year will make it difficult for our family traditions to continue :(.

It saddens me that the new administration is unconcerned with customer service. Check in was unpleasant. I was not given a vote card which made it unfair as I had no idea campers voted this year. Changes such as reservation policy should have been communicated. It costs nothing to be informative and kind. Limiting parking was a huge hassle as the cabins don’t have room for parking if we decorate

Horrible policies now. We come every year for over 10 years and the policy changed for booking a year in advance and we lost all our spots. Our deluxe cabin has room for 2 cars yet the new policy only allowed one. Left key in cabin at checkout because I was told by the girl at front desk I could do that but then got a call later on Sunday asking why I didn’t turn in key. Staff needs training.

I do not like the new changes that are being implemented. You are charging a lot of money for a "holiday weekend" therefore I would expect superior stay. The outdoor chairs are falling apart, inside my room (212) bokk lights do not work. The whole cabin could be much much cleaner. The coffee mug was poorly washed and it was dirty!!!

Bathrooms were filthy, they looked like they where not cleaned on a regular basis. Bathroom trash can closest to the RV dump station smelled like dirty diapers. Garbage was not picked up very often. In the past they came by several times a day. Our garbage sat in the sun for a good portion of the day.

With KOA under new management a lot of traditions and a lot of families over 20 years of attending KOA Halloween holiday will not have a place to stay next year on their brief decision to Rent customers rental cabins and motorhome spots without notifying Their customers in advance to let them know there was a change in management new management is horrible a lot of activities were not available

Fred the manager and his staff, Patty, in particular, were very unprofessional and rude! I will never return to any KOA campsite until this matter (my complaints as well as many others) have been addressed. Not enough room here to comment on the specifics, however, you should read the Yelp, Facebook, and Google reviews, there are many upset campers with the same complaints!

I have stayed at this site multiple times happily in the past, but this last stay, there were people partying in the RV sites well past the 10pm quiet hours start. I texted security. I finally drifted off to sleep at about 11:30pm despite noise, but was startled awake again by raucous laughter at 12:05am. Given I had to get up at 6:00am, this was unacceptable. No response from security.

We always enjoy our stay at KOA SC/Monterey. Clean facilities with new upgrades around the park. Great items in store but over priced.

I have stayed here for years however- theres been a change of ownership- in the past the staff were super friendly- this time you were lucky if they smiled at you - they were understaffed in the amenities and overstaffed in check in - we had to call down each time to rent bikes etc - there was broken equipment on the playground and lights were out in cabins and amenities closed at 430 for the kids

Our third stay at this KOA and we will be back. I would recommend that you take less than five minutes and sweep away all the spider webs on the cabin porch so that it is more welcoming.

Well compared to years past for the Halloween celebration, this year definitely seemed like there was not a lot of effort put into the festivities. Usually there is a Haunted woods and a roaming DJ parade going through the campsite. This year, it seemed that they had higher prices, rules that you can't cancel even a year outside of your booking, and way less effort put into the festivities.

Very disappointed. The battery under my bed in the airstream I rented was really loud and made sleeping unpleasant. When I called the after hours number thinking they would send someone out in the morning the guy was rude and didn't care and said that's just what airstreams do.. I wasn't offered any compensation for my troubles! The windows were so filthy I could barely see out. Doubtful to return

Nice facilities! Great for kids, lots to do, and the kids had a great time. The airstream we stayed in had a lot problems. Table was broken and needed fixing. Door had trouble shutting. Friends' airstream's heat didn't work. The maintenance guy was kind and fixed things quickly.

Staff were friendly and site was clean, but we were told we would have dish soap in the unit and didn't realize until after the store was closed that there wasn't any. We had to borrow from a neighboring site. Also, our check in was delayed 20 min because the cabin wasn't ready and feel it should've been offered to hang at the pool until it was ready so we didn't lose out on that time.

Wasn’t expecting the staff or management to be so rude, we have gone for years to this KOA, it was a shock, we waited for years to get a October Halloween date, finally got it when they opened the second weekend as a Halloween weekend only to be told next year is Octoberfest and our cabins were already taken. Parking lot was downsized. We had a cabin that sleeps six but could only get four towel

On 10/9 I asked to have 2 cabins closed to each other. I received KOA texted, said they can lock #17 & #139 for me, not next to each other, but cross a few cabins down the road, ask if I'm ok. I responded that I'm appreciated, but KOA didn't inform me about additional charge. I found out these unauthorized charges when I came to KOA on 10/10, charged $22 per each cabin for "lock fee"

The cabin had problems and when I addressed it at checkout with the front desk person and manager, they were rude and combative and did not offer any solution. Very disappointed with our experience. We would come at least a few times a year, but am now thinking we’ll find somewhere else to go.

As always we had the best time during our stay. You have the most amazing staff (especially the girls who work the desk at the store) however, we are very disappointed to hear when we return next October it will not be a Halloween celebration like is has in the past. We are hoping this will change and we can continue on the fun KOA Halloween camping traditions.

We stayed in an Air Streamer and were very dissappointed! Unfortunately!!! The Streamer was old and not properly maintained!!! The door was had to unlock with a key, the windows were hard to open and did not close properly!!! The floor was uneven, it felt like you were walking in a funhouse, off balance!!! The interior was obviously very worn, boards fell off the kitchen area, etc....Sad.....

We loved everything about our stay except that we got a cabin next to the water pump which was always running and was an inconvenient noise considering there were so many other cabins available. We were waiting to do the fun train for over 30 minutes and then had to go to the office and ask about it and then waited another 15 minutes before the train showed up.

The location is good, the setting and cabins are ready beautifully. The services and info leaves a lot to be desirable. After booking the cabin and asking if it had a refrigerator and a microwave and told yes! We arrived late in the day after a long ride to find out. That the cabin did not even had bedding, no sheets, pillows or blankets. Horrible experience

We stayed just one night in one of the airstreams. Very nice. We were tempted to stay another night but needed to get back. I'm alreay talking to the rest on my family about doing a family camp there next year.

This was our first stay at KOA, and we're hoping now to make it an annual tradition for Halloween month.. it was really fun, there were three households in our family there to celebrate from age 1 up to 60+ and we all had a great time!

You need to adhere to the 10 o’clock quiet hours. Also, we arrived at 1:45 and checked in. We had to wait until 3:20 to get into our cabin. We sat at tent #1 since we had that space as well as cabin 184 and tent space 2 and waited. Not one person came to cabin 184 during those 1,5 hours to do anything, therefore why couldn’t we have been able to get into cabin 184 when we arrived.

Was not able to use the spa area after surfing in the evening, a primary reason why we wanted to stay there. Out neighbor left a dog in their cabin, which barked for 3 hours. Definitely not worth the money paid, wish I could have a refund, and would not recommend a friend to stay. Far overpriced for the services received and very disappointed.

Overall we enjoyed our stay. They staff are very friendly and helpful. If I could make one suggestion it would be that housekeeping dust the window sills and sweep and mop the floors.

We love this place. I've spent time at many Koa over the years and they are all clean, fun for the kids and so close to Monterey pier and Santa cruz boardwalk. Over the years I've stayed here 5 or 6 times. The only drawback is the price it is very spendy. We pay half the fee at the booking and we save for the rest. Never had any problems with the camp sites or the management I have given it 4 stars, not 5 stars because of the price of the lodging. My favorite Koa is Manchester Beach.
